The Orchestra of the City, founded in April 2003 by Benjamin Bayl, is one of London's leading non-professional
orchestras. With a membership of musicians who are of a very high standard but pursing a variety of different careers, the orchestra
is known for its friendly and sociable atmosphere and its youthfulness (many of the players are in their 20s and 30s). The orchestra
regularly gives high quality performances at prestigious venues, such as St John's Smith Square, with soloists ranging from the
up-and-coming youngster to some of the most established and eminent musicians of today, including Piers Lane, Simon Preston and
Patricia Rozario. For a full biography of the orchestra, please click here.
